Welcome To PANHANDLE GOLDEN RETRIEVERS

Rick and Lynn Loper, and their son Sam, are based out of Lubbock, Texas and offer the highest quality purebreds in the Panhandle. We are a small family-owned and operated Golden Retriever breeder, however our golden family spans from Coast to Coast. When you adopt a puppy from Panhandle Golden Retrievers you join our family— We pride ourselves in maintaining contact with all the owners and connecting owners with others in their litters. We give each puppy and puppy buyer the personal attention they deserve in this process. Puppies from our litters are born and raised in our home and are well socialized at the time they go home with you at 8 weeks old. Our family of Goldens are bred for temperament and standards of the breed and we strive for top quality and beautiful puppies! All our breeding dogs are cleared through extensive health tests before we breed them. We also provide support to our puppy buyers and general advice! It is a big responsibility and commitment in raising a golden retriever pup but it is a wonderful experience!

GOLDEN RETRIEVERS

It's no surprise that the Golden Retriever is one of the top ten most popular dogs in the U.S. It's all good with the Golden: they are highly intelligent, sociable, beautiful, and loyal.

They are also lively. The Golden is slow to mature and retains the silly, playful personality of a puppy until three to four years of age, which can be both delightful and annoying. Many keep their puppyish traits into old age. The Golden Retriever is a family dog, and he needs to be with his "pack." Don't consider getting a Golden unless you're willing to have him in the house with you, underfoot, every day.

There's one other potential drawback (if you can even call it that) to the breed: They are definitely not watchdogs. They might bark when strangers come around, but don't count on it. Most likely, they'll wag their tail and flash that characteristic Golden smile.

PUPPY BASICS

Can you picture a large, golden-colored dog romping through your backyard, sleeping on your couch, playing with your children and joining your family with whatever they are doing? If so, you might be the perfect candidate to get a Golden Retriever as a pet. Golden Retrievers, often simply called Goldens, are as friendly and fun-loving as they are beautiful. If you are thinking about getting a puppy or an older dog, here are the things you need to know to properly take care of your new Golden Retriever.
